TRAVEL GRANTS

With support from the SNSF, ICLaVE13 is pleased to offer up to 20 travel grants of 500 CHF to subsidize the travel of students, fixed-term contract staff, and independent scholars to present their research at the conference. The committee may offer larger grants to scholars coming from outside of Europe.

Criteria for travel grants

The University of Lausanne’s sustainable travel policy stipulates the following conditions:

 

  • If the journey will take 10 hours or less by train, only the train will be reimbursed

  • For flights, only economy airfare will be reimbursed, with a maximum of one checked bag

  • Flights between Swiss cities (e.g., Geneva-Zurich) are not permitted; recipients must take the train from their first point of entry in Switzerland

  • Taxis and private vehicles cannot be reimbursed

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

 

  • Students, fixed-term contract staff, or independent scholars;

  • based in/affiliated with a university in a country on the OECD middle- or low-income countries list; and

  • presenting a paper (individual or as part of a panel) or poster at ICLaVE 13.

Submission requirements

Applicants must provide all the following documents to be considered for a travel grant:

 

  • CV
  • Letter of motivation (max. 1 page)
  • Letter from a supervisor or head of department confirming grant eligibility for students and fixed-term contract holders (not required for independent scholars)
